Manager Pat Gilroyexplained on Sunday the county players heapproached had bona fide reasons for excusing themselves from the commitment. As it turned out, the whole thing was purelycoincidental.
When McGeeney regularly claims he rubs people up the wrong way, he can point to this as the prime example.
Perhaps, though, some other Kildare players could plug the holes left by the likes of Paul Flynn, Paddy Keenan and the Wexford contingent who will have college and club commitments nextweekend.
