Moran takes over as Déise captain

Kevin Moran, inset, will captain the Waterford senior hurlers for the 2013 season.

Moran, 25, will take over the role from Michael ‘Brick’ Walsh, 29, who enjoyed a second spell as captain in 2012.

Retired Waterford star John Mullane revealed yesterday that he was offered the position last September by Déise boss Michael Ryan.

Instead, Mullane’s De La Salle clubmate will lead the team out in the Waterford Crystal Cup, National League and championship campaigns.
