Ladies chief confident of finding league sponsor
The Ladies Gaelic Football Association is still without an official sponsor for the 2013 National League as Bord Gáis Energy has decided not to come on board again.
It is understood that LGFA top brass have received some interest from prospective new sponsors but nothing has been tied down yet. With the new league season due to begin on February 3, LGFA officials are anxious to link up with a new sponsor as soon as possible. Bord Gáis Energy sponsored the league from 2009-2012.
Ladies football chief executive Helen O’Rourke explained: “There are a few interested parties and we’d hope to have something in place before the league begins. Ladies Gaelic football is the largest female participation sport in the country. We believe this is a great opportunity for a new sponsor and TG4 also provide live TV coverage of our National League finals.”
The 2013 National League finals in Divisions 1, 2 and 3 are down for decision over the weekend of May 11/12, with Dublin’s Parnell Park expected to host a triple header. The Division 4 final will take place over the weekend of May 4/5.
