The suspensions, which came into operation on a trial basis at inter-county level from the start of last year’s National League, have been a resounding success.

Regarded as a much fairer form of punishment than time-based bans, it is likely they will receive a strong majority after they were backed by 92% of delegates last year to be brought in experimentally for 2012.
