Down’s late surge spoils Dunne’s day
Paul Comiskey got Down going with a goal in the 4th minutes and they weren’t flattered by their 1-3 to 0-1 first quarter lead. But Cavan hit four unanswered points to draw level, 0-8 to 1-5, at the interval, with Dunne notching three on the trot.
When Dunne hit his eighth point in the 45th minute to put the hosts 0-10 to 1-6 in front, it looked like a home win was on the cards. However, Down introduced some heavy artillery from the bench in the last half-hour pand they hit the final three points to secure victory.
