Shefflin injury not as bad as first feared

Henry Shefflin is expected to be fit for Kilkenny’s National League campaign after scans revealed his ankle injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

The hurler of the year suffered ligament damage in Saturday’s Leinster club semi-final but the recovery time is expected to be four to five weeks.

“The x-ray didn’t show up anything and we had thought he had broken his metatarsal or something,” said Ballyhale Shamrocks secretary Sean O’Sullivan.
