Secretary appeals for more support for Imokilly teams

The East Cork division withdrew from the football championship this year when it could not field a side for a second-round clash with Seandun in the divisions and colleges section, and while all hurling fixtures were fulfilled, availability of players was a problem.

In her report for next Wednesday’s board AGM in Rostellan, divisional secretary Tracey Kennedy, who is also PRO of the Cork County Board, says: “The difficulties we had with Imokilly senior teams this year, particularly in football, but also in hurling, prompted the board to set up a sub-committee to examine the situation. Niall Barrett (Carrigtwohill), John Parker (Youghal), Richie Cahill (Glenville), Don Hegarty (Carraig na bhFear), Ronan Dwane (Aghada), Michael O’Brien (East Cork Board), Brian Lotty (Glanmire), Kieran McGann (Castlelyons) and John O’Donoghue (Cobh) sat on this committee and presented an initial recommendation that selectors for both teams would be appointed early this year, but to date, this has not happened.
