Brady, Moreno on course

World handball champion Paul Brady is still on course for a final rematch with American Luis Moreno after both men advanced to the US Open semi-finals in Los Angeles yesterday.

Brady, Moreno on course

Cavan’s Brady started sluggishly in his quarter-final against former American number one Emmet Peixoto.

But, having been 9-8 down, he reeled off 13 successive points to win game one 21-9.

And he powered through the second 21-8 to seal his last four place.

Moreno beat Minnesota’s Andy Nett, whom he partnered to doubles glory at Worlds, comfortably.

Meanwhile, Armagh’s Charly Shanks was due to serve off late last night against Pittsburgh left-hander David Fink in his quarter-final.

Brady defeated Moreno 21-19, 21-10 in an epic World Championships final 10 days ago at CityWest and the pair are fancied to meet again for $10,000 in the final of this tournament tomorrow.
