Cody: Canning comments have not been mentioned

Kilkenny hurling manager Brian Cody said last night that comments by Galway’s Joe Canning have made “no difference” to the Cats, adding the remarks have not even been mentioned in the Kilkenny dressing-room.

Last week Canning said that Shefflin was unsportsmanlike during the All-Ireland final as he questioned decisions made by referee Barry Kelly, but Cody wasn’t rising to the bait when asked for a comment yesterday.

“I haven’t been reading the papers, which is no reflection on yourselves, of course, but I’d be very stupid to pretend I didn’t hear what was reported as said by Joe (Canning).
