Ticket prices to be cut for replay
Croke Park will this morning reveal pricing details for the games in Croke Park in 20 days’ time.
The replays will have the same throw-in times as yesterday, Kilkenny and Galway battling it out again at 3.30pm with the Tipperary and Dublin minors duelling once more at 1.15pm.
Both fixtures are expected to carry the facility of extra-time if required.
As a result of the draw, the Ladies’ Gaelic Football Association have agreed to push back their All-Ireland senior final between Kerry and Cork by a week to Sunday, October 7.
With a stand ticket costing €80 yesterday and entry to Hill 16 costing €40, it is anticipated the GAA will make cuts to admissions in the same way provincial councils usually do in such scenarios.
However, season ticket holders may have to pay the same price for their tickets if they wish to attend the replay.
According to their terms and conditions: “In the event that a match ends in a draw and a replay is required, the purchaser will be charged for the replay at the same price as the drawn match.”
The replay also has repercussions for the Kilkenny SHC with board officials now coming under pressure to finish the competition in time for the Leinster club campaign.
The next round of club games in Kilkenny were set to be played on September 30.
The provincial council are likely to accommodate Kilkenny in what are unusual circumstances, but Brian Cody admitted it will be an issue next month.
“What it will do is it will change the scenario in the county for club games,” he said. “It is a serious thing really, because we are in an All-Ireland U21 final next weekend as well. There will be a bit of juggling to be done there as well.”
Kilkenny were also involved in the 1959 draw against Waterford in the first game before the Déise got the better of them in the replay.
