Hanley turns it on for Ballyhea
Hanley contributed 1-9 of his side’s final tally, bagging an all-important goal with four minutes to go to see his side to victory. Ballyhea’s goals came at crucial times — Daniel Relihan also found the net after 29 minutes — as things looked to be going the way of Mallow who led 0-14 to 1-8 at the interval.
Other notable Ballyhea contributions came from centre-forward Pa O’Callaghan and midfielder Kieran Morrissey even though the latter was deservedly sent to the line midway through the second-period after receiving two yellow cards.
Mallow will be kicking themselves for leaving this one get away though as they looked to be in control of the tie for long periods without ever putting Ballyhea away.
Leading lights for the vanquished side were Aaron Sheehan with 0-12 and Brian Murphy with 0-3. Also well worth a mention was the display given by Gavin O’Sullivan at left half back.
