McIver gets Derry job
Succeeding John Brennan, the Ardboe native and former Donegal man takes over with ex-county boss Paddy Crozier and former Tyrone trainer Paddy Tally as his selectors.
McIver previously led Ballinderry to an All-Ireland SFC title as well as a National League crown with Donegal. He was involved in James McCartan's backroom team in 2010 when they reached an All-Ireland final against Cork.
Meanwhile Anthony Rainbow was ratified as Carlow senior football manager last night. The Kildare man, who starred with the Lilywhites for almost 20 years, was a selector with the Barrowsiders last year.
Wexford native John Meyler was also ratified as Carlow senior hurling boss for the season. Meyler played with Wexford and Cork from 1973 to 1987.
