Sinnott sends Baltinglass into last four
Sinnott netted twice in the first half as Baltinglass opened a 2-5 to 0-2 lead. An Tochar and Baltinglass both had a man sent off on second yellow cards within minutes of each other in the second half.
Sinnott finished up as top scorer for the winners with 3-1, with Joey Kelly adding 0-5, John McGrath 0-3, and Jason Kennedy 0-1.
Corner-forward Luke Ferguson was the principal score provider for An Tochar with four points, with Enda Nolan bagging the goal and centre-forward Brendan Kennedy chipping in with a point.
But Rathnew failed to set up a semi-final with their arch-rivals Baltinglass, losing their quarter-final to Bray Emmets (0-9 to 0-8) yesterday. Atoning for their 2003 final defeat after a replay, Bray snatched the winner at the death, as Paul Cunningham drilled over his seventh point, while centre-back Arran Murphy and midfielder Niall Gaffney also impressed.
In the other quarter-finals at Aughrim on Saturday, Blessington set up a semi-final meeting with St. Patrick’s following their 0-12 to 1-3 over Hollywood.Mayo man Austin O’Malley was the driving force behind St. Patrick’s 1-13 to 1-6 win over 14-man Éire Óg Greystones on Saturday, scoring 1-5 of the winner’s total.
