Lixnaw turn on style to edge past Kilmoyley
It was a victory, that did not look likely in the opening quarter as Kilmoyley were the dominant side, and deservedly led 0-6 to 0-3. However Lixnaw kept plugging away and, with Kerry minor star Ricky Heffernan firing over frees from various angles, they drew level by the end of normal time in the opening half. However an injury-time point from Andy McCarthy, saw Kilmoyley take a slender lead of 0-8 to 0-7 to half-time.
Lixnaw came storming back in typical fashion for the second half and fired over three quick points, two from Ricky Heffernan and one from Kerry midfielder John Griffin, to take the lead for the first time in the game. Kilmoyley were not going to throw in the towel, however and kept in touch with their opponents, with Shane Brick and Daniel Collins guilty of some wayward shooting, and the game was on a knife edge with three minutes remaining, as the sides were level at 0-12 each.
