Ryan ready to quit as Allen stays

Under-fire Tipperary senior hurling manager, Declan Ryan, looks certain to inform County Board officials this week he will not be seeking another term, while Munster rivals Limerick last night revealed John Allen has agreed to stay in charge of the senior hurlers.

Ryan’s two-year tenure officially came to an end following the 18-point mauling by Kilkenny over a week ago.

The fallout from the All-Ireland semi-final shambles has been unprecedented and Ryan, coach Tommy Dunne and selector Michael ‘Glossy’ Gleeson are all set to fall on their swords with the search for their successors expected to commence next week.
