Counihan: Sunday will tell us how far we’ve come

Conor Counihan admits only a Cork victory next Sunday will prove they have learned from their All-Ireland quarter-final nightmare against Mayo last year.

The Cork manager is hoping the experience of losing a half-time lead to the Connacht champions before being knocked out of the Championship will serve as a lesson to his players as they prepare to face Kildare.

“You’d like to think it is but have we taken that in? We’ll know Sunday evening. If we win, obviously it’s worth something. If we don’t, we haven’t learned.”
