Parking plan for Páirc Uí Chaiomh swings into gear

Cork County Board are hoping a new traffic management plan will make it easier for anyone travelling to the Munster final tomorrow at Páirc Uí Chaoimh to get in and out of the city.

Parking plan for Páirc Uí Chaiomh swings into gear

The plan, in conjunction with the Munster Council and the gardaí, is designed to alleviate problems experienced at the grounds in the past.

“We have put in place new parking and transport arrangements which provide spectators with options which they can choose to use to not,” said Cork County Board chairman, Bob Ryan.

“We want everyone to enjoy the day and again we would ask people to park with due consideration for others.”

Ryan also indicated the board had struck a deal with a series of multi-storey car parks for the Munster final. Fans are being encouraged to park at City Hall for a special match rate of €5 and either walk or use a shuttle bus service to Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The Q Park car park is approximately 15 minutes walk from the stadium and a few minutes walking distance from the pre-match shuttle service.

“It allows people to have a meal or drink in the city centre before the game and to get to the stadium quite easily.

“The availability of the Q Park facility is important as residential areas near the stadium will not be available for parking and will be barriered and manned by gardaí and GAA stewards.”

Limited free parking will be available at Kennedy Quay, Marina green areas and some of the approach roads to the venue, while limited on-street parking is available in the city centre.
