Can you fill sombrero of super fan Cyril?
But he has a small confession to make: “Cork and Tipperary in the Munster championship is one of the highlights for me but I prefer when the game is in Thurles. We usually go up the night before and have a great bit of craic with the Tipperary fans.”
Páirc Uí Chaoimh though, has its advantages. “Playing in Cork means I can have the dinner at home. That is the great thing about a 4pm start, this 2pm throw-in like we had for the football against Kerry is neither here nor there.”
Once fed, it is time to head to the nearest watering hole. “I’ll go down to Larry Tompkins’ pub for a few drinks and a bit of banter with the Tipperary crew. We always have a good old bit of fun before games. It’s off to the match then and hopefully we will be heading back to Larry’s to celebrate a win!
“It is hard to say if we can win, it looks like being a toss of a coin.”
Now you can be in with a chance of following in Cyril Kavanagh’s footsteps. The Irish Examiner and Munster GAA teamed up in May to launch the search for the Irish Examiner Munster GAA Supporter of the Year, with the aim of acknowledging GAA fans who have real pride in club or county.
To enter, GAA fans simply visit www.irishexaminer.com/competitions or via the competitions tab on www.facebook.com/IrishExaminerSport and submit a captioned photo. Tell us who is in the photo, where it was taken and why it is special!.
