GAA president Liam O’Neill has given a strong indication a training cap will be placed on counties who can’t regulate their finances.

O’Neill said counties in need of cutting costs might be compelled by Croke Park to reduce what is spent on preparing their inter-county teams.

“There’s a huge amount of time gone into helping units that are in difficulty,” O’Neill told Today FM’s Championship programme yesterday. “We have voluntary expertise advising clubs and counties who are in difficulty.
