Defending champions Ballintubber got the defence of their Mayo SFC title off to the perfect start with a comfortable victory over Breaffy in Clogher yesterday.

A goal from Alan Plunkett helped the holders to a facile 1-14 to 0-3 win as their West Mayo neighbours struggled without the injured O’Shea brothers, Aidan and Seamus.

Former Mayo forward Aidan Kilcoyne was the star of the show for Knockmore as the North Mayo side pipped Shrule/Glencorrib by 1-18 to 1-16.
