Marc Ó Sé ruled out

Marc Ó Sé is out of Kerry’s Munster quarter-final against Tipperary on Sunday with a hamstring tear.

The three-time All Star defender picked up the injury in a recent training session and was in Dublin yesterday to meet a consultant.

However, the tear isn’t serious and Ó Sé is only expected to be on the sidelines for a couple of weeks.

Should Kerry beat Tipperary in Semple Stadium, he is likely to be fit for a Munster semi-final date with Cork on June 10.

Amazingly, Sunday will mark the first time in eight years that 32-year-old Ó Sé has not started a Championship game for Kerry, the last being the Munster semi-final win over Cork in 2004 when he came on as a substitute for Aidan O’Mahony.

In 2010, an ankle injury threatened to rule him out of the Munster opener against Tipperary but he was able to take his place in defence.

Marc’s older brother Tomás is available again after serving out his two-game suspension and is line to make his 78th senior appearance for the county in Thurles.
