Horan: We’ve lost a father figure in Galvin

Limerick manager Maurice Horan admits the loss of their team’s ‘father figure and spiritual leader’ John Galvin is a huge blow ahead of Sunday’s Munster SFC quarter-final against Waterford.

Horan: We’ve lost a father figure in Galvin

“He’s a huge loss to us. If you saw him for the first 20-25 minutes for the game in Fermanagh, you would have seen that he was flying. He got the ball and went to ghost past a guy and the knee just went. He’s the father figure and spiritual leader of our team. He always delivers and commands huge respect.

“He had to do four weeks of gym work and then he’d to go back to the specialist in Dublin. The specialist said it was up to him, the knee could last a season or it could go at any stage. It’s very badly torn and it’s on threads really. We thought he was over the worst of it. He was actually flying. We can’t rule anything in or out but it looks unlikely that he’ll play this season.”
