Limerick hurling manager John Allen has confirmed Seamus Hickey will miss the Treaty County’s opening Munster SHC game against Tipperary.

Hickey broke a bone in his arm playing for his club, Murroe-Boher against Ahane in the Limerick SHC over the weekend, and yesterday Allen described him as a “huge loss” for the Munster championship.

“Seamus Hickey is going to be missing and he’ll be a huge loss. We were looking at him coming back after the league, that he’d give huge impetus to our backline. He played four games for us since the league finished and he was very good, very fit, and now he’s out, it’s a huge loss.
