Kanturk step up in style
When aided by the strong breeze Town, level at the interval, failed to add to their six-point half-time tally until injury time and by then their forces had also been reduced to 14 men.
Six minutes before full time Kanturk were 1-7 to 0-6 to the good and held out comfortably with forwards Anthony Nash and Donagh Duane a constant threat.
With full-forward Seán O’Regan doing some great covering and Andrew O’Sullivan more than holding his own in midfield Town started well. They were still a point to the good before Kanturk scored a cracking 24th minute goal. Outstanding full-back John Healy set the move in motion and Cork hurler Lorcan McLoughlin supplied his county team-mate with the pass for Antony Nash to finish.
Level, 0-6 to 1-3 at the break, Town were still well positioned but as their game fell asunder in the closing half, the winner’s blossomed.
Gone was their first half dithering to be replaced by some fluid passages of play that resulted in four well-taken points with their first wide of the half arriving very late on by which time they had matters well sorted.
