Power awaits news on injury

The Carrickshock attacker fell awkwardly after contesting a high ball during the closing minutes of the senior hurling league clash against James Stephens in Thomastown.

Power was removed from the field by stretcher and was rushed to St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny for treatment.

Power underwent sessions in the cryotheraphy centre at White’s Hotel, Wexford yesterday and will meet with top surgeon Tadhg O’Sullivan inWaterford this afternoon to discover the extent of the problem.

Prior to the injury Power hit 0-7 as he inspired Carrickshock to a 1-15 to 2-11 win over the championshipholders.

There was better news for Kilkenny boss Brian Cody, when Richie Hogan made a surprise return to club action with Danesfort yesterday after breaking two ribs and suffered a punctured lung against Galway on April 1.

However, Hogan has made a remarkable return to fitness, lining out at wing-forward against Ballyhale Shamrocks yesterday and may be in contention for Sunday’s league final against Cork.
