New president O’Neill eyes Friday night lights

GAA president Liam O’Neill says he is keen on introducing Friday night games.

The Laois native didn’t specify whether he would like to see them trialled in the league or the championship. However, he has indicated they will be brought in on an experimental basis during his term of office.

“I’d love to examine the possibility of Friday night games,” the Trumera man told RTÉ. “Games under lights have a particular magic and I’d love us as an organisation to say ‘Right, we’ll try an odd Friday night game to see how that would work’.”
