Always in control, the College won this at their ease, possessing an extra gear or two whenever the city division looked as if they might eat into what was at times a very sizeable lead.
Inspired by Kerry senior panellists Johnny Buckley and Brian Moran at midfield, with another Kingdom star, Peter Crowley, impressive coming forward from wing-back, UCC took charge of proceedings early on and it was a hold that was never relinquished as they advanced to the third round of the divisions and colleges section.
They had five points on the board within the opening seven minutes as their full-forward line of Eoghan Buckley, Shane Beston (two each) and Paul Geaney all on target before Shane Howard opened Seandún’s account.
Beston could have had goals with his efforts, while Crowley also went close from a narrow angle, but with a stranglehold around the middle the points continued to come, the lead 0-11 to 0-2 by the 24th minute.
While three late first-half points, two from Paul Condon and one by Edwin Buckley, had Seandún back to within six by half-time, UCC scored the first five upon the restart.
Geaney got two of these while Buckley, Brian Coughlan and Greaney added others.
The lead had grown to 15 points, 0-22 to 0-7, as the shooting practice continued while the half wore on, Greaney adding a third impressive score from midfield while Kerry senior Shane Enright punched over when he might have taken a goal chance.
Seandún improved in the closing stages, sub Thomas Hornibrook getting a good individual goal while Edwin Buckley added a couple of frees, but the outcome had been decided long before the end. The divisional side now face Imokilly next Tuesday in Rostellan.
