Kelly set for Déise training return

Eoin Kelly is expected to resume full training with the Waterford senior hurlers this week ahead of their final two Allianz Hurling League games.

Kelly 29, was omitted by manager Michael Ryan from the Déise squad earlier this year, with Ryan saying that Kelly’s results in a fitness test were “disappointing” and adding the player had refused to meet the management team.

The decision caused much debate within the county, but at the time the player told the Irish Examiner he would continue to train on his own, play for his Passage club side and hoped to force his way back into the reckoning for the county again.
