Cahalane to make first league start for Rebels
Cahalane, who is in his first year on the Cork hurling squad, started in the Waterford Crystal Cup opening round win over Kerry in early February but has yet to feature during Cork’s two league wins to date. He is given the nod to start at full-back as Stephen McDonnell is ruled out with a toe injury. Elsewhere, Barry-Murphy brings in UCC Fitzgibbon Cup winner William Egan at left half-back while Lorcan McLoughlin and Jamie Coughlan, who were both part of the Cork IT side defeated in that decider, line out at midfield and left corner-forward respectively.
Ross Cashman drops to the bench, Eoin Cadogan is tied up with football commitments this weekend while Ben O’Connor has announced his retirement. Positional switches see John Gardiner move to centre-back and Tom Kenny switch to wing-back. Stephen White, man-of-the-match in defence for Cork IT in the recent Fitzgibbon Cup final, has been drafted into the panel while Niall McCarthy has been named as a substitute having recovered from injury. Cian McCarthy remains sidelined through injury.
