Battling Banner end Limerick’s run

Clare recorded their second league win in Division 4 of the Allianz FL at Cusack Park, Ennis yesterday, denying Limerick a third victory in this year’s campaign.

A single point separated the sides at the end of a game that the home-side dominated for the most part. But a tally of 15 wides by Clare kept the Shannonsiders hopes alive until the death.

The Banner led by 0-5 to 0-3 at the break and in a tight second period they held out thanks to vital scores by talisman David Tubridy, Gary Brennan and the impressive centre-forward Shane McGrath.
