St Kevin’s break brave Nagle hearts

Nagle Community College’s bid to retain their Umbro FAI Schools John Murphy All-Ireland title ended in heartbreak in yesterday’s extra-time thriller at Waterford RSC.

St Kevin’s break brave Nagle hearts

The Cork College went ahead on 19 minutes after Alan Browne was fouled 25 yards from goal and Paul Lawlor’s resultant free flew past keeper Stephen Kavanagh. St Kevin’s equalised with their first meaningful attack on 38 minutes, when John Harcourt set up captain Daniel Matthews to beat Mark McGrath with an angled finish.

After Roy Kenny was inches wide with a thunderous free kick four minutes into the second half, the Cork College regained the lead on 57 minutes, courtesy of a Browne free.
