Clarity sought on Fitzgerald report

Clare and Waterford intend seeking clarification from Munster chief executive Pat Fitzgerald about comments made in his report at the province’s annual convention in Dungarvan on Friday.

Clarity sought on Fitzgerald report

In his report released on Monday, Fitzgerald said: “Over the years this council has allocated grants to Clare and Waterford toward maintenance and upkeep of their respective county grounds. I am somehow sceptical that this funding was at all times spent on such projects. And I believe that in future before allocating such grants we should work with these counties to decide how these monies are spent and identify what issues or work we want prioritised.”

Chairmen Michael O’Neill and Tom Cunningham confirmed they will take up the matter with Fitzgerald on Friday. However, speaking to the Irish Examiner, Fitzgerald said neither county should “feel aggrieved if they’ve done what they’re supposed to do”.
