While calling for an end to the recent rise in tensions between Kerry and Ulster teams, the former young footballer of the year was irate when he heard about the Killarney club asking for their supporters to be separated from Crossmaglen’s.

Kernan was on his delayed honeymoon in Australia last month when Dr Crokes chairman Vincent Casey made his remarks, which he interpreted as criticism of his club.
