GAA to probe ugly clashes

GAA chiefs look set to investigate ugly clashes in yesterday’s Allianz Football League Division 2 game between Monaghan and Kildare at Clones.

Referee Joe McQuillan red carded Kildare defender Brian Flanagan and booked another three players, Flanagan’s team-mate Pádraig O’Neill, and Monaghan’s Dick Clerkin and Dessie Mone.

Kildare boss Kieran McGeeney said: “People don’t want to be seen to be backing down.”
