Cavan role for Keogan

Former Cavan player and manager, Donal Keogan has been appointed to head the county’s sub-committee to deal with the payments-to-managers issue.

Cavan role for Keogan

All counties are asked to provide a written submission to Croke Park by February 24 in response to Páraic Duffy’s discussion document on the matter. Duffy has proposed threepossible scenarios to deal with how managers are reimbursed.

The first is for the status quo to remain, whereby the practice remains in contravention with the GAA’s rules but a blind eye is turned to it.

The second is to vigorously apply the existing rules, while the final potential solution is the legitimise the financial remuneration of managers.

Keogan, who is Cavan’s Central Council delegate, heads a four-person committee that will take submissions from the county’s 41 clubs beforewriting its report.

“We’re not leaning in any direction at the moment” said Cavan PRO Declan Woods.

“Until we get thesubmissions in from our clubs, we wouldn’t be in a position to comment. We’re not asked to make a proposal. There are a number of suggested routes as everyone is aware of, and it’s aquestion of selecting which one you feel works best.”
