Allen explains Shannonside reshuffle

Limerick boss John Allen admits he dropped seven players from the 2011 panel on the advice of his selectors.

Allen explains Shannonside reshuffle

Stephen Lucey, Brian Murray, Paudie McNamara, Kieran O’Rourke, Pat Tobin, Eoin Ryan and Paudie O’Brien were all axed from the squad in October, while Damien Reale and Donie Ryan had already signalled their intentions to retire. Allen took the decision to make the cull just a week after he was appointed as Donal O’Grady’s successor alongside Ciarán Carey, who had worked under O’Grady, John Kiely and Eamon Meskell as his selectors.

“I’ve three selectors from the county and I suppose it was under their guidance because I didn’t know the players well enough,” Allen told Newstalk yesterday.
