Cavan ponder stance on Johnston move

The Cavan County Board’s management committee will discuss Seanie Johnston’s request to switch from the county to Kildare on Monday night.

The 27-year-old forward has applied to leave Cavan Gaels and transfer to St Kevin’s in Staplestown.

However, there are suggestions Cavan could object to it.

Johnson states he lives in Straffan but works as a teacher in Breffni College in Cavan town, which is over a three-hour return drive to and from the Kildare village.

Meanwhile, Tipperary’s Waterford Crystal Cup Senior Hurling quarter-final with UL in Nenagh has been switched from Sunday, February 5 to next Saturday in order to avoid a clash with a Dr Harty Cup semi-final.

Dr Harty Cup semi-finals: Saturday, Feb 4th: Waterford Colleges v Colaiste na Deise, Fraher Field, 2.30pm. Sunday, Feb 5th: Ardscoil Ris v Nenagh CBS, Tipperary Town, 2.30pm.
