Pay managers and players will be next, warns Brogan

Alan Brogan warns inter-county players will most likely look to be remunerated if the GAA decide to legalise payments of managers.

Pay managers and players will be next, warns Brogan

Asked if he believed players would look to be recompensed for their services if managers receive regulated income from the association, the 2011 Footballer of the Year said: “Yeah, they probably would. It might open the floodgates a little bit and it could be a dangerous road to go down to be honest but how else do you do it? I don’t know.”

Brogan admits he hasn’t given too much consideration to GAA director general Páraic Duffy’s document on the subject as he says he hasn’t come across the issue of managers receiving unregulated payments at his clubOliver St Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh or with Dublin. However, he acknowledges the organisation has to address the matter.
