Premier go pink for fundraiser

MUNSTER senior hurling champions Tipperary are swapping their traditional blue and gold jerseys for pink shirts in aid of charity.

A challenge game to boost the coffers of breast cancer research will take place tomorrow week, January 28, at MacDonagh Park, Nenagh.

An attractive-looking fixture will see Declan Ryan’s Tipperary lock horns with a Munster team managed by his predecessor, Tipp’s 2010 All-Ireland winning boss Liam Sheedy.

The game will throw in at 2.30pm and coach Eamon O’Shea, sidekick during Sheedy’s successful three-year term with the Premier County, will assist the Portroe man on the touchline.

All proceeds from the game will be donated to Breast Cancer Ireland and with this in mind, O’Neill’s have sponsored jerseys for both teams with a pink theme, as a pink ribbon is associated with fund-raising to prevent breast cancer and to support sufferers.

A number of prizes will also be raffled among the attendance and a healthy crowd is expected as Ryan fine-tunes preparations ahead of the Allianz League while Sheedy looks ahead to the interprovincial semi-final showdown with Leinster on February 19.
