Daly determined to ‘break new ground’

Many might forget it now but the hurlers made a major breakthrough of their own in winning the Allianz Hurling League, the county’s first on the senior national hurling stage since 1939.

Under manager Anthony Daly the hurlers were making steady progress, and having subsequently reached the All-Ireland semi-final were even threatening the hitherto unquestioned supremacy of the big-ball game in the nation’s capital.
