Galvin targets league return

INJURED midfield ace John Galvin has given Limerick footballers a major boost by declaring that he hopes to return to action in next season’s Allianz FL campaign.

Galvin targets league return

Galvin has been sidelined since tearing the cruciate ligament in his left knee during a challenge game against Down in Dublin last May.

“I’m not too far away from getting out on the field, and all going well I should be able to start doing a bit of training with the county sometime in February,” he said. “And if I don’t have any setbacks I might be able to get in one or two games in the latter stages of the league.”

The Croom clubman would have been able to make an earlier return to match action but had to postpone surgery until September.

“I work on the family farm and we specialise in tillage for which July and August are the busiest times of the year. Despite the injury, the work on the farm was no problem for me and I didn’t do anything to aggravate the cruciate damage.”
