Carrigaline stay in top flight
This was their third meeting in the relegation battle following two draws and extra time, but on Saturday at Páirc Uí Rinn,Carrigaline deserved their victory.
Carrigaline edged 0-3 to 0-2 ahead before Tadhg Walsh finished a three-man move to the net to yield Grenagh a one-point lead with eight minutes gone. But that goal sparked Carrigaline to life in spectacular fashion. First to make his mark was full-forward Niall Coakley who rattled the net following a link up with David Drake. Simon O’Brien kicked three splendid unanswered points before Drake and Coakley finished the scoring blitz while a Diarmuid Dorgan free was the sole reply for the mid Cork side who trailed by five points (1-8 to 1-3) at the break. By the 40th minute the margin had grown to seven with O’Brien and Coakley tremendous up front.
