Glanmire end barren run

A MIXTURE of terrible weather conditions and a tenacious Ballydesmond team were unable to prevent Glanmire from being crowned Division 4 Football League champions at Mallow yesterday.

Glanmire end barren run

The East Cork side managed to deal with the conditions thanks mainly to the stellar work of midfielder Timmy Leahy and a first-half penalty from James Murphy. The left full-forward nailed a spot kick in the 6th minute to earn a three point advantage they managed to sustain ‘til half time (1-5 to 0-5).

Other stars on the day for Glanmire were veteran midfielder Mark Hopkins, half backs Brian Murphy and Fergal O’Brien and full-back Kieran Sheahan.
