UCC’s jersey minor makeover

UCC’s traditional red and black jersey underwent a slight makeover before Sunday’s county senior football final as each member of the UCCstarting 15 wore armbands made out of yellow insulation tape.

The move was the brainchild of UCC selector and fitness coach Kevin Murray, who won an All-Ireland senior hurling medal with Cork in 1999.

The thinking behind the move was that the striking yellow tape would make the UCC jerseys stand out and help a UCC player see team-mates nearby in their peripheral vision.
