1.4m saw Dublin turn final around

SUNDAY’S dramatic All-Ireland SFC final between Dublin and Kerry attracted a peak television audience of 1.4m people, according to figures released by RTÉ last night.

An average audience of 1,175,300 viewers, 74.61% of the available audience, tuned in for the full 70 minutes with a huge surge in viewers tuning in to witness a late comeback from Pat Gilroy’s men to claim the Sam Maguire for the first time in 16 years.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s dramatic Rugby World Cup clash between Ireland and Australia was another ratings winner for the Donnybrook-based broadcaster.

An average audience of 624,000 tuned in for full coverage of the match, with a peak figure of 808,700 recorded.
