TIPPERARY goalkeeper Brendan Cummins says the new Allianz Hurling League format will be a “problem” for managers trying to blood players.

The revamped league format announced earlier this week splits teams into Divisions 1A and 1B and while Cummins said he could understand the thinking behind the move, it reduces the chances fringe players have to impress their manager.

“I suppose you have to try and bring Offaly and other teams that were relegated into the equation. I suppose they want to bring the teams that are just hovering under the top tier to just bring them up a level and splitting it like this might help.
