WEXFORD chairman Ger Doyle has welcomed the decision by GAA’s Management Committee and Central Council to back Hawk-Eye on a two-year pilot basis at Croke Park.

Wexford’s footballers were knocked out of the All-Ireland championship last month after a late contentious Ian Ryan free for Limerick was awarded by referee Derek Fahy despite one of his umpires waving the effort wide.

Although Hawk-Eye, which will be used only for score detection purposes, will be confined to Croke Park and only for championship matches and the Wexford-Limerick qualifier happened in Portlaoise, Doyle is confident Hawk-Eye will be endorsed by the GAA after its testing period.
