Payment to managers

THE GAA’s discussion forum on payments to managers was not mentioned at Central Council on Saturday.

The meeting, signalled by President Christy Cooney at Congress in April, was expected to be called before the end of June.

Director General Páraic Duffy’s discussion paper on payments to managers was to be released at the forum which was to include all the GAA’s main stakeholders.

It is now nine months since Duffy’s document was circulated among members of the GAA’s Management Committee. But neither the paper nor a date for the forum were mentioned.

Speaking at April’s Congress in Westmeath, Cooney said: “As an organisation I believe we have to work hard to uphold and crucially protect these same values if we are to continue to represent the beliefs that underpin the GAA. With this in mind I propose to call together the chairpersons, secretaries, treasurers and Central Council delegates to a discussion forum within the next two months to gather their views.”
