Cahalane gets full-back slot for Cork U21’s

DAMIEN CAHALANE has been drafted into the Cork team at full-back for tomorrow night’s Bord Gáis Energy Munster U21HC final against Limerick in the Gaelic Grounds at 7.30pm.

The St Finbarr’s man comes in instead of Eddie Finn, who drops to the bench, in the only change from the recent semi-final victory over Tipperary in Semple Stadium.

Cahalane, who came on for Finn in that battle with Tipperary, will be handed the task by manager Ger Fitzgerald of marking Limerick attacker Kevin Downes, who has been in sparkling form for the county senior side.

Cork’s starting side, captained by William Egan at centre-back, contains six players who have lined out for Denis Walsh’s senior squad this year in either league or championship. The entire half-back line of James Nagle, Egan and Mark Ellis have senior experience, along with attacking trio Conor Lehane, Luke O’Farrell and Jamie Coughlan.

Aidan Walsh is named at left half-forward.
