Offaly begin search for Dooley’s successor

OFFALY GAA officials began the process of finding a replacement for Joe Dooley as hurling manager last night. Dooley stepped down after four seasons following their championship exit to Cork, but, according to county board chairman Pat Teehan, the wheels are in motion to find a replacement.

“We will select a committee to look after the appointment and take it from there. Up to now we have made no progress, but now we will get the ball rolling.”

Meanwhile, Teehan also expressed his willingness to give Tom Cribben time to decide over his future as the county’s football boss before making any plans for 2012.

“Tom has indicated to us that he wants some time to think over his position, which is fair enough,” said Teehan.

“This was his third year in the position, but his one-year deal is up at the end of the championship.

“But we are happy to give him a bit of time before he decided if he wants to be considered for the position again.”
